It is time to honor the preceptors who give so much time, energy, and heart to ensure students in our profession have the best foundation possible for beginning their NP careers. Please consider nominating a preceptor or colleague who you know is deserving of this honor. Self-nominations are welcome for this award. It is okay to honor your dedication to precepting students. Hurry, though, the deadline for accepting nominations is Sunday, February 16, at midnight. A printable description of the award is attached.

NAPNAP e-Chapter Preceptor of the Year Award
Presented by the e-Chapter to a member serving as a preceptor for APRN students who exceeds the expectations in precepting students as a service to our profession. This nursing professional is recognized for their dedication to mentorship, education, research, and teaching skills for the future generation of nurse practitioners. Through their service a a preceptor, they are raising the bar for all to follow their example practicing a higher standard of pediatric care.
Qualification Criteria may include but is not limited to:
- Current NAPNAP and e-Chapter member, minimum of 1-year membership, nominated by self or another chapter member
- Service as a mentor, instructor, or preceptor for pediatric nurse practitioner

Demonstrates contribution to the education of NP students in clinical practice with pediatric patients and families in one or more of the following areas:
- Outstanding teaching ability.
- Encourages student development of creative approaches or management strategies in the care of children and families in the practice setting.
- Models adherence to current standards for practice.
- Models cultural competence in clinical practice.
- Demonstrates application of quality improvement and outcome measurement in professional practice settings.
- Assists students in developing professional networks with their peers and colleagues.
- Models participation in professional activities or organizations at local, regional or national level that provide service or impact policy for children and families.
Application Requirements:
Typed double spaced narrative description (500 words or less) describing the reasons this nominee should receive the award based on the criteria given for the award submitted to napnapechapter@gmail.com
Name of the university or academic program where serving as mentor, instructor, or preceptor and/or same of the board or committee where serving that is impacting service to children and families
Nominee’s current Curriculum Vitae
Proof of e-Chapter membership and length of membership
Award winner receives:
- Public recognition during the National NAPNAP annual meeting
- A complimentary 2-year e-Chapter membership
